CASSTRÖM LARS FALT KNIFE, SLEIPNER, CURLY BIRCH, SCANDIA
Robust Bushcraft and survival knife developed in collaboration with survival expert Lars Fält
Strong tool steel
Durable in heavy-handed use such as batons, heels etc.
Due to the high toughness of this knife, the edge will bend rather than break, which is a desirable feature for an outdoor knife
Easy to cut with and easy to sharpen.
Stylish and durable handle in selected finely curled birch wood
Very reliable for both general bushcraft use and long expeditions.
A very sturdy Bushcraft knife from Casström designed together with Bushcraft and survival expert Lars Fält.
The knife is very versatile and ideal for general outdoor activities and longer expeditions.
The blade made of Uddeholm Sleipner steel: This type of steel has the same good qualities as the old trusted Böhler K720, but with 8% Chromium so that it has more resistance to stains / rusting.
Uddeholm Sleipner tool steel with a high carbon content to make the blade durable for heavy-handed use such as batons and heels. The steel properties, together with the Scandinavian edge, make the blade robust, while still being easy to handle and simple (with a small flat grinder) to sharpen in the forest.
The full-tang construction, i.e. the blade runs all the way through the full width and length of the handle, makes the knife very durable.
Even if the handle is damaged in some way, the knife can still be used without any problems.
The handle design is straight and ergonomic and fits both large and small hands. The handle is made of selected curly birch wood, treated with a traditional Scandinavian linseed oil blend. A sturdy and deep sheath in tanned leather and a leather strap for the handle is included.
About Lars Fält: A living legend among Swedish survival and outdoor fans, and has published many books on the subject.
Lars Fält founded the Swedish suvival school and was in charge there for a long time. He has a lot of experience as an instructor of the Swedish paratroopers and is a trained survival instructor with the British SAS and the American Special Forces.
He has also participated as an instructor in foreign relations from the Canadian Arctic to desert regions in Australia.
About the steel: Uddeholm Sleipner (carbon steel / tool steel, AISI O2) Strong, oil-hardened tool steel with a high carbon content.
Its chemical composition allows it to be hardened to a high hardness while maintaining ductility (ability to deform without fracture) and toughness, while being easy to sharpen and able to obtain a very sharp and durable edge.
Due to the low chromium content it will rust if it gets wet and therefore it should be dried after use and protected with oil or wax if the knife is stored in a high humidity environment.
