he history of Fisher metal detectors dates back to the early 20th century ... Gerhard Fisher was a German-American engineer and inventor of the portable metal detector.
After his education at the University of Dresden, he settled in the United States. There he worked with equipment to search for the direction of aircraft using radio waves (aircraft radio direction finders). However, Gerhard Fisher discovered that his instruments also reacted to the presence of metals in the soil and he applied for a patent on this discovery.
Fisher went on to develop a portable version of his device that he started manufacturing in his own company, Fisher Research Laboratory, in 1931. The research, knowledge and experience gained over many years results today in an impressive range of metal detectors!
