Groundtech A2: 3D Ground Scanner and metal detector in one system
Want to look deeper than with a traditional metal detector? The Groundtech A2 combines an advanced 3D Ground Scanner with an integrated Pulse Induction metal detector. This allows you not only to detect metal objects, but also to investigate underground anomalies and structures and analyse the results in 3D.
The A2 is designed for users who want to investigate buried metals, objects, cavities and other underground anomalies in a targeted way. With six different scanning modes, MFS-3 Dual Sensor Technology and the Groundtech G-Portal app, the A2 offers several ways to investigate a location.
Six different scanning modes
The Groundtech A2 features six different search and scanning functions. Depending on the situation, you can choose between fast searching, precise localisation and extensive 3D ground investigation.
- 3D Ground Scanning: investigate differences and anomalies in the ground and analyse the results in 3D.
- Detector Quick Scan: quickly search for metal objects and distinguish between ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Pinpointer Function: determine the exact position of a detected object more accurately.
- Live Scanning: view graphical information about possible objects and underground anomalies directly while scanning.
- Detector Advanced Scan: use more advanced settings for detailed investigation.
- 3D Ground Scanning Detector Mode: combine the metal detector function with 3D analysis of the measurement results.
3D ground investigation with MFS-3 Dual Sensor Technology
At the heart of the Groundtech A2 is MFS-3 Dual Sensor Technology. This gradiometer system measures magnetic changes in the ground and helps locate underground anomalies.
It can be used to investigate:
- buried metal objects;
- magnetic objects such as iron and steel;
- non-ferrous metals such as gold, silver and copper;
- underground rooms and cavities;
- tunnels and other underground structures;
- disturbances and differences in the ground.
Integrated Pulse Induction metal detector
In addition to the 3D scanning system, the A2 features an integrated Pulse Induction metal detector operating at 1 kHz.
With Detector Quick Scan and Advanced Scan, you can search for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This also allows the A2 to be used as an advanced metal detector when a full 3D scan is not required.
Analyse your results in 3D
With the specially developed Groundtech G-Portal app, scan results can be viewed and analysed graphically and in 3D. The software is available for Android and iOS.
Different ground responses and metals are displayed graphically, helping you assess where an interesting anomaly or possible object may be located after a scan.
The A2 also features an integrated display that shows settings and search results during operation.
Scanning depth up to a maximum of 20 metres*
Groundtech states a possible scanning depth of up to 20 metres for the 3D scanning system.
It is important to understand that this is not a fixed detection depth. Actual achievable depth depends heavily on factors including:
- the size and mass of the object;
- ground structure and mineralisation;
- the type of underground anomaly;
- the scanning mode used;
- measurement conditions and operator experience.
*The maximum scanning depth stated by Groundtech depends on ground structure, target size and the scanning function used. Small metal objects will of course not be detected at this maximum depth.
Live Scan: instantly see what is happening below you
With the Live Scanning Function, you can view graphical responses directly without first completing a full scan pattern. This is useful for quickly investigating a location and identifying areas that may be interesting for a more detailed scan.
Quick Scan for fast metal detection
Want to know whether metal is present in an area before carrying out a full scan? Detector Quick Scan allows you to check an area quickly.
The system can distinguish between ferrous metals such as iron and steel and non-ferrous metals such as gold, silver and copper.
Pinpointer function for more precise localisation
Once an interesting target has been found, the integrated Pinpointer Function helps determine the position of the object more accurately.
This gives you an integrated system that allows you to first investigate a wider area and then progressively narrow down the position of a possible target.
Multi-language operation
The Groundtech A2 supports multiple languages. According to Groundtech, the device supports 11 languages and the mobile application supports 25 languages.
This makes the system accessible to users in many different countries.
Wireless Bluetooth connection
The Groundtech A2 features Bluetooth 4.2 BLE for communication with compatible mobile devices and Groundtech software.
This enables measurement data to be transferred for further graphical and 3D analysis.
Rechargeable and suitable for extended use
The A2 is equipped with a rechargeable 3.7 V lithium-ion battery.
Groundtech states an approximate operating time of:
- 6 hours when using the Pulse Induction detector system;
- 10 hours when using the other systems.
Charging is carried out using a USB-C 25W charging adapter.
What is included with the Groundtech A2?
The standard A2 package includes:
- Groundtech A2 main unit;
- PiD25 search coil;
- PiD30 search coil;
- MFS-3 Dual Sensor;
- charging adapter;
- headphones;
- user manual;
- carrying bag.
Groundtech A2 or A2 GEO?
The Groundtech A2 combines a 3D Ground Scanner with an integrated Pulse Induction metal detector.
The Groundtech A2 GEO takes this one step further by adding a geo-electric resistivity system. This system is designed for additional investigation of larger and deeper underground structures such as cavities, tunnels, caves and possible underground water sources.
If your main goal is to investigate metal objects, ground anomalies and underground structures using 3D scanning and PI detection, the A2 already provides a comprehensive solution. For users who also want to carry out geo-electric measurements, the A2 GEO is the more advanced option.
