The IQ Detect helps you locate a metal target precisely. Actual detection range depends on factors such as the size of the object, its position, the ground conditions and the search environment. A detection signal indicates the presence of metal, but does not automatically identify the type of metal or the object found.
Pulse Induction technology for searching in and around water
The Groundtech IQ Detect uses Pulse Induction technology (PI) with a stated pulse frequency of 675 Hz. This technology is particularly suitable for conditions where mineralisation or salt water can affect detector performance.
Thanks to the fast ground and water balancing system, you can adapt the detector to different search conditions. This is useful when moving between dry sand, wet beach areas, rocks and underwater environments.
360° detection for precise searching
Thanks to 360° detection around the sensing area, the IQ Detect can respond to metal objects from multiple directions. This allows you to investigate a search area quickly and accurately.
This is especially useful when an object is buried in sand, gravel, between rocks or in a hard-to-reach location. By moving the detector around the suspected target area, you can determine the object’s position with increasing accuracy.
Audio, vibration and six LED signal levels
The Groundtech IQ Detect uses several methods to communicate a detection signal. You can work with audio, vibration and an LED indicator with six signal levels.
The LED display gives a visual indication of signal strength. Combined with vibration, this helps you move closer to the target. Underwater or in noisy surroundings, vibration and visual signals are particularly useful.
Three adjustable sensitivity levels
With three sensitivity levels, you can adapt the detector to the situation. A higher sensitivity can be useful when initially locating a metal target. A lower setting can then help you determine the exact position more precisely.
Dive Mode for underwater searching
The dedicated Dive Mode has been developed for use while snorkelling and diving. Combined with the locking system, it allows you to operate the detector underwater without settings being easily changed by accident.
The Groundtech IQ Detect is fully waterproof to a maximum depth of 30 metres. This makes it suitable for searching in both fresh and salt water, provided it is used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Ghost Mode: search without audio
With Ghost Mode, you can search without audible signals. The detector then communicates through vibration and the visual LED indicator.

The IQ Detect features a built-in 1050 mAh lithium-polymer battery. This means the detector is easy to recharge and you do not need to carry disposable batteries.

IQ Detect or IQ Pointer?
The Groundtech IQ Detect and IQ Pointer both use PI technology and feature 360° detection, three sensitivity levels, Ghost Mode and Dive Mode. However, the two models are designed for different types of use.
The IQ Pointer has the familiar slim pinpointer shape and is especially useful for recovering a target from a dug hole, loose soil or sand. The IQ Detect has a larger ergonomic handheld detector design and is specifically developed for more extensive searching on land and underwater.
